36 Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce 2018 Economic Trends 12 Population Distribution by Household Income and Race In the Savannah MSA, 60% of the population is white, while 34% is African-American (one-year U.S. Census data for 2016). The Hispanic/Latino population of any race is 5.7%. As Savannah's population grows, so do the incomes and benefits available to its residents. In the Savannah MSA, the five-year U.S. Census estimate for average household income is $70,206. Average household income is higher in Bryan County ($81,855) and lower in the City of Savannah ($51,042). The Savannah MSA has 52.4% of its households with income over $50,000, Effingham County has 62%, Bryan County has 61%, while the comparable figure for the state of Georgia is 52%.
