Savannah Economic Trends
The City of Savannah (78.1 square miles) is located in Chatham County, which lies south of the Savannah River,
the boundary between South Carolina and Georgia. The Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area comprises
Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties. Liberty and Long counties complete the geographic boundary of the
Savannah/Hinesville/Ft. Stewart Combined MSA (CMSA). The Savannah Primary Trade Area, a designation that
informs linkages in population and shopping trends, includes Beaufort and Jasper counties in South Carolina.
