Get in on the Game
Sure, you can watch a game of golf, but
you can also hit the links at beautiful
local and regional courses. Our mild
weather makes year-round play possible.
Savannah public courses include
Crosswinds Golf Club (232 James
B. Blackburn Drive) and The Club at
Savannah Harbor (2 Resort Drive).
And if you have a little one who's
wanting to tee off, check out First Tee –
Savannah, part of an international youth
development organization introducing
the game of golf and its inherent values
to young people. … Youth soccer is having
a major moment in Savannah. Clubs
like Savannah United (702 Mall Blvd.,
Suite C) and Tormenta FC (2704 Old
Register Road, Statesboro) offer a mix of
recreational and competitive soccer.
The Savannah Sports Council is a
great resource for countless other
recreational and sports options. As an
arm of the Savannah Chamber, the
council recruits major sporting events
to Savannah such as the SEC Women's
Volleyball Championship.
Water safety is of particular importance
in our coastal region, and kids can
dive into swimming through several
recreational and competitive swimming
opportunities. From swim instruction to
water aerobics, the YMCA of Coastal
Georgia has options for all ages and
abilities. For more serious swimmers, the
Chatham County Aquatic Center is home
to several year-round competitive swim
teams, like the Georgia Coastal Aquatic
Team, the Low Country Aquatic Club
and the Savannah Swim Team. ... Quickly
growing in popularity, volleyball offers a
healthy outlet for active adolescents. Club
Savannah Volleyball has teams, summer
camps and developmental programs
for girls ages 8–18. There's also Powers
Volleyball Club, a Jacksonville-founded
club that recently expanded to Savannah.
Throughout Savannah, Hilton Head Island
and Brunswick, Chain Baseball offers a
fun and supportive environment for
kids to learn and play baseball and
fastpitch softball.
But why let kids have all the fun? The
Savannah Adult Recreation Club is a
close-knit, friendly community that helps
"grown-ups" take a break from the daily
grind through co-ed recreational kickball,
softball and volleyball leagues. There's
truly something for everyone — they
even have a poker league. Locations
vary, but you can enjoy a game in scenic
Forsyth Park.

and clubs in the area.
