The Sporting Life
Whether you're a passionate spectator or prefer to play,
athletic activities and events abound in Savannah.
For the Fans
Cheer on the Savannah Ghost Pirates at
their home base, Enmarket Arena (620
Stiles Ave.) downtown. This professional
minor league ice hockey team brings the
heat (or maybe the chill?) with fast-paced,
exciting games. Regular season starts in
October and runs through April. … Root, root,
rooting for the home team is easy when
it's the Savannah Bananas, a worldwide
phenomenon that balances theatrical antics
with all-American baseball. The hometown
heroes have gone on to documentary fame
and even invented a new, namesake sport,
Banana Ball. Due to their soaring popular-
ity, the Bananas are often on tour, but you
can experience a game at Grayson Stadium
(1401 E. Victory Drive) at the edge of Daffi n
Park intermittently year-round. … Soccer fan?
It's your lucky day. The Savannah Clovers
Football Club started as a local amateur
club in 2016 but recently gained member-
ship into the National Independent Soccer
Association and turned pro. Goal! Catch a
match at Memorial Stadium (101 John J.
Scott Drive) in Savannah's historic Sandfl y
neighborhood. Regular season games run
April through October. … Three cheers for the
The Savannah Buccaneers. This pro men's
team is one of the top in The Basketball
League (TBL), regularly tipping off against
other regional teams based in Jacksonville
and Charlotte, among others. Catch home
games roughly March through May, all
held at Savannah State University's Tiger
Arena (3219 College St.) … Golf tournaments
abound in Savannah, home to the Korn
Ferry Tour's Club Car Championship at
The Landings Golf & Athletic Club (71 Green
Island Road). The tournament is typically
held in late March or early April. We're also
within driving distance of springtime PGA
tour stops like The Masters Tournament in
Augusta and the RBC Heritage on Hilton
Head Island as well as the RSM Classic held
in the fall on the Golden Isles.
Get in on the Game
Sure, you can watch a game of golf, but you
can also hit the links at beautiful local and
regional courses. Our mild weather makes
year-round play possible. Savannah public
courses include Crosswinds Golf Club (232
James B. Blackburn Drive) and The Club at
Savannah Harbor (2 Resort Drive). And if
you have a little one who's wanting to tee
off, check out First Tee – Savannah, part
of an international youth development
