This race over the beautiful Talmadge Bridge's steep incline is a unique race accessible for all levels of runners. So, whether you want to go up and down once for the 5K, twice for the 10K or three times for the Double Pump, here are a few tips for tackling the "South's toughest bridge run"! BE PREPARED As you get ready to run, visualize your end goal and how it will feel to cross that finish line knowing that you prepared as best you could. Being as mentally and physically prepared as possible will get you to the start line with fresh legs and a beaming smile. GET MOTIVATED The most successful race performances usually involve talent, hard work and knowing how to run smart. The charge of the physical challenge, the thrill of surpassing your personal best time, the camaraderie of fellow runners and healthy competition among good friends are all great motivators. Use whatever mental prompt propels you to excel and to do your very best. The fulfillment of achieving your goals while giving your finest effort is the ultimate reward. CLOTHES Your body will heat up tremendously when racing. Wear clothes that you can remove during the race if you get overheated. Remember, you can put your number on the front of your shorts if you want to wear a shirt that you can discard during the race. In colder temperatures, it is important to cover your head and hands with a light hat and gloves to keep you warm by locking in your body heat. Clothing made from breathable materials that won't absorb moisture is preferable to allow you to be as light and swift as you can be! The fulfillment of achieving your goals while giving your finest effort is the ultimate reward. " " HELPFUL TIPS FOR RUNNERS
