HIGHER EDUCATION More than , students are enrolled in more than public and private institutions of higher learning in and around Savannah, many pursuing courses of study in technology and creative arts and sciences that contribute to and advance Savannahs vibrant and growing economy. GEORGIA'S HOPE SCHOLARSHIP HOPE Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally is funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education Georgia high school graduates from 3 and later who have demon strated academic achievement and are seeking collegelevel degrees are eligible for HOPE Scholarship assistance for instate colleges and universities. The funding formula is greater for those attending public institutions, but assistance is also available at eligible private instate colleges and universities. Georgia residents who are attending a Georgia public technical college to earn a certificate or diploma are eligible for a HOPE Grant regardless of high school graduation date or grade point average. Also, students who have earned General Educational Development GED diplomas after June 3, 3, can receive onetime HOPE awards for use toward tuition, books and other educationrelated costs.
