Projected Growth and Current Age Distribution
Savannah's Population Projected to Grow Nearly 40%
By 2050, almost 1.3 million people will call the 7-county Savannah/Hinesville/Statesboro CSA home. From 2020 to
2050, the population in the Savannah MSA is projected to grow 34%, adding more than 130,000 people from 2020 to
2050, according to the Georgia Office of Planning and Budget. During this period, Chatham's population is projected
to increase by 17%; Bryan will jump 90%; and Effingham County will grow by 75%.

In the Savannah MSA, 22.4% of the population is younger than 18 years. The Savannah MSA has many residents in
their adult prime spending years with more than 62.4% of the population being from 18 to 64 years of age. Chatham
County leads the MSA with 63.0% of the population from 18 to 64 years of age. Chatham County also holds the
highest share of those over the age of 65: 16.1%.
