The fourth annual Savannah VOICE Festival, which will be staged August 7-21, 2016 in and around Savannah, offers music from opera, musical theatre and popular song. Led by opera legend Sherrill Milnes, the Savannah VOICE Festival takes place in the “Hostess City” of Savannah, Georgia. It is a two-week celebration of the classical voice with over 25 performances, including operas, concerts, food and wine events and masterclasses. Offering music from opera, musical theatre and song, this year’s highlights include Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, the new opera, Michael Ching’s Alice Ryley, a Savannah Ghost Story and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as well as International, Broadway and Sacred Song nights. The Westin Savannah Harbor Resort is the backdrop for many events as well as historic places around the city. As part of the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs, SVF is a non-profit arts organization that brings classical vocal excellence to the Savannah, Georgia area through a two-week celebration of concerts, events and educational presentations during the month of August and throughout the year. It offers music from opera, musical theatre and popular song. The Festival and its sister organization, the VOICExperience Foundation, which helps young artists pursue their careers in the performing arts, were founded by opera legend Sherrill Milnes and soprano Maria Zouves. They work together to serve the community by providing the highest level of education and quality performances by talented artists for all to enjoy.
